Payroll Officer

Dumaguete, Philippines

We are seeking an experienced, detail-driven Payroll Officer to oversee payroll operations across a multi-site business. This role suits someone highly organised, proactive, and confident managing communication with managers to ensure payroll accuracy, timely payments, and clean account reconciliation.

Minimum Requirements

  • CPA qualification with 2–3+ years of accounting or payroll experience

  • High attention to detail and accuracy when working with large volumes of data

  • Strong numeracy skills and confidence working with financial information

  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines across multiple pay cycles.

  • Proficient with Xero, Tanda, and general accounting systems; MYOB experience is a bonus

  • Solid understanding of GST, payroll legislation, ATO requirements, and general accounting principles

Competencies and Skills

  • Strong understanding of payroll procedures, including attendance management, payment adjustments, and benefits administration.

  • High accuracy in managing payroll data, attendance records, and statutory deductions to prevent discrepancies.

  • Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.

  • Strong analytical skills for reconciling attendance and payment data to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Effective at identifying payroll discrepancies, troubleshooting issues, and providing timely resolutions.

  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information with discretion.

Essential Functions

  • Manage fortnightly payroll for ~100 staff across 8 multi-site locations.

  • Coordinate with site managers to verify and approve Tanda timesheets.

  • Process new starters, exits, employment changes, and maintain Tanda → Xero data flow.

  • Review payroll for accuracy, prepare workpapers, action amendments, and lodge pay runs with the ATO.

  • Generate ABA files and update cashflow with payroll data, ATO obligations, and superannuation liabilities.

  • File and maintain organised payroll documentation in SharePoint.

  • Process superannuation payments with Finance Manager approval.

  • Prepare and lodge monthly payroll tax, Xero journals, BPAY details, and WorkCover remuneration.

  • Manage monthly WorkCover payments and prepare associated journals and staff reallocation entries.

  • Prepare monthly accruals, annual leave, and long service leave journals.

30% Night Differential Pay

The standard night differential pay in the Philippines is 10%. Our rate is 2x higher than that of other companies.
